During the summer months wasps can be a real nuisance, especially for those who enjoy outdoor entertaining and barbecues.
Fear of getting stung is a genuine cause for concern, as it can be an extremely painful and upsetting experience. For some it can be a serious health hazard with a sting resulting in anaphylactic shock.
Most of the time the odd wasp can be shooed away without too much of a problem, but if wasps are building a nest on your property, then it becomes a totally different issue. The increased traffic of wasps back and to from the nest and the activity around the nest, often in the eaves of the building, can present a real danger to humans and pets alike.
So how do I know that I have a wasps nest?
IF YOU ANSWER YES TO ONE OR MORE OF THESE QUESTIONS, YOU MAY WELL HAVE A WASPS NEST. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM YOURSELF!
To antagonise wasps is to court disaster and risk multiple stings from aggressive wasps protecting their nest.
At Eradica Pest Control we want nothing more than to take your pest problem off your hands, so you can concentrate on running your home or your business, safe in the knowledge that your pest issues are being dealt with by professionals.
We offer a fast, efficient service for the treatment of wasps nests and we will check round to see that you don`t have any more. It is not uncommon to find more than one nest but we have a set price which covers you for up to three wasp nests found.
Normally, we will attend the same day as your call to us or at a convenient time to suit you.
Our technician will first survey your property or business premises, looking for signs of a nest.
Having located it, he will treat the nest with an insecticidal dust, which should kill off the the nest within a couple of hours.
After treating the nest, we will supply you with a treatment report, explaining what we have done and the chemicals used, and also give you a safety sheet outlining what to expect over the next few hours and how to keep you and your pets safe from being stung.
Normally, dead wasps nests are left in situ after treating as they pose no further danger once all the wasps are killed off.
However, we provide a wasp nest removal service if required, the price dependent on the nest location and access to it.
Hornets are basically the wasp`s BIG brother, less common and less aggressive, but packing a much more powerful sting.
At Eradica Pest Control we offer a fast, efficient solution to your insect problem, and we can usually respond the same day or at a convenient time to suit you. We use industry strength chemicals to kill off the hornets nest, and as with wasp treatments, will leave you a treatment report explaining what we have done and a safety sheet outlining what you should do over the following few hours to ensure you and your pets are safe.
SPECIES WE DEAL WITH INCLUDE :
Flying insects transmit a range of disease-causing organisms that are dangerous to human health.
Our food and food surfaces can be contaminated by these organisms which are present on the insects` body hairs and in their faeces and saliva.
Good hygiene practices are the front line of defence against these insects, ensuring food is covered up, and preventative measures such as fly screening and proofing are all methods that can be employed to keep flying insects out of homes and businesses.
At Eradica Pest Control we do not kill honeybees. If a honeybee swarm can clearly be seen, on the wall of a building perhaps, we will contact a bee-keeper on your behalf and request them to attend and collect the swarm.
In association with a specialist company, we also offer a service for removal and rehoming of honey bee swarms from complex sites such as within the fabric of buildings. If the swarm has entered a void, a cavity, a chimney, wall, roof or an air brick, we can assess the situation and advise whether the honeybees can be left alone or whether they can be extracted from the building structure and rehomed. A survey of the site will be carried out by a specialist team, followed by dismantling of structure, extraction and rehoming of the bee swarm, then rebuilding of the structure that has been disturbed.
I
Honeybees are a welcome sight in summer months, gathering nectar and pollinating flowers as they buzz around our gardens.
These creatures are vital to our ecosystem and must be protected.
They have long provided humans with honey and beeswax, and beekeeping is an old and valued occupation.
Swarming is the natural means of reproduction of honeybee colonies but occasionally this comes into conflict with the human population when the old queen departs the original hive location with about sixty percent of her worker bees.
Here at Eradica Pest Control we have had a lot of experience dealing with food premises and we can help you retain or increase your Food Hygiene Rating.
Installation of electronic fly killing units can be effective at controlling and monitoring certain species of fly, particularly necessary in commercial kitchens. Knockdown sprays can deal with the odd insect in domestic circumstances but are not recommended as a suitable remedy in commercial situations as they are a food contaminant.
We can supply, fit and service various types of electronic fly killing units according to your requirements and we can also supply and fit fly screening to windows and doors.
If your business premises has a beer garden or other outside eating space, we can supply you with wasp traps for the balmy days of summer, when wasps, drunk on ripe fruit and indulging their taste for sweet foods, plague the tables of diners, contaminating food and stinging public and staff alike.
We can advise you on the best places to site the wasp traps and deal with any nests we find.
A badly sited wasp trap can actually draw in more wasps than before.
All these measures can be supplied as one-off treatments, or for peace of mind and effective pest control, can be incorporated into a pest control contract.
We offer three levels of service contract, tailored to suit your requirements.

Cluster Flies are medium sized, dark coloured flies that congregate in roof spaces or under hung tiles towards the end of summer. There they `cluster` together and hibernate for the winter. They then leave the following spring when the weather warms up.
The problem with these flies is that they can increase to quite extraordinary numbers and they do return to the same spot year after year. When they come into a property, you will notice quantities of flies around windows and on the floor, and this will continue for a number of weeks in some cases.
Once the weather has cooled into winter, the flies will sleep and don`t usually cause a problem until there is a warm day when some wake up and appear in the property.
When winter is over and the weather has warmed sufficiently, the flies wake up and leave, so you will experience them around your windows again for a period of time.
The larvae of this species are parasitic and live in earthworms. This makes eradication lengthy, but treatment is effective. Normally two treatments are necessary, one in the autumn of year one then another in the autumn of year two.
Other species of flies generally found in homes and business premises are the Common House Fly, the Lesser House Fly, the Bluebottle and the Greenbottle.
It is usual during summer months to have a few flies come indoors and a knock-down aerosol or rolled-up newspaper is sufficient to deal with this incursion. However, if you are experiencing an unusually high level of flies, we can arrange to survey your home or business premises to ascertain where the problem is coming from and how best to address it. A sudden increase in Bluebottles for instance, suggests a dead carcass lying around somewhere, as these flies are very good at finding something deceased on which to lay eggs, which in time hatch into maggots, then into flies.
Houseflies like to breed in rotting vegetable matter, compost heaps and rubbish areas, then enter our kitchens, walking on our food preparation surfaces and exposed food.
